Studio Shaffer Lutsko

Porte de Namur is a proposed new-build extension tucked within a residential courtyard in central Brussels, set against the backdrop of a historic chocolate factory. The 45 m² addition rises as a modulated volume with pitched gables and a skylit roof, creating a luminous second floor for a wellness spa. Clad in translucent ribbed glass, the space is filled with soft natural light for restorative treatments, somatic bodywork, and meditation. By night, the glowing façade gently illuminates the courtyard, while its reinterpreted Belgian rooflines establish a dialogue between historic context and contemporary form.
