Studio Shaffer Lutsko

This mid-century hillside residence, originally designed by a protégé of Richard Neutra, has been reimagined as a contemporary retreat that both preserves and elevates its modernist origins. Stripped to its structure and thoughtfully rebuilt, the design introduces a lofted master suite beneath the iconic butterfly roof, creating a treetop perch connected to the double-height living room below. Glass partitions, integrated storage, and raw finishes play against the precision of glass and steel, while wood and brass accents strike a balance of restraint and warmth.
